Audrey Kline

"I see a window and start designing in my mind. I touch the fabric and feel how it will drape and perform on a window ... and then it begins." - Audrey Kline
After graduating from Michigan State University with degrees in Fashion Merchandising and Retailing of Clothing & Textiles

Audrey Kline spent 5 years as a buyer for a department store in Schenectady, NY.
Once her children were born, she chose to stay home with them, so as a way to earn extra money Audrey started doing clothing alterations for friends. Not long after, by word of mouth, she was contacted by a local glove designer to put together some glove samples. This started the ball rolling toward becoming Audrey's Classic Designs.

One of the more tedious projects she took on was making custom Dressage riding coats called Shadbellies.

Each of the approximately 200 coats had great detail including leather lined tails, vest points, interlinings and pad stitch lapels. Another interesting project involved making reproduction beaded outfits for a mannequin inside a glass arcade case depicting a fortune teller similar to what was seen in the movie Big with Tom Hanks.

Audrey's claim to fame, came when the glove company that she had made samples for became a sponsor of the USA Bobsled & Luge teams and asked her to mock up a competition suit. Soon Audrey was making suits for the whole team.

She became the Lycra specialist. Her suits made the big time as they appeared at the winter Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. Shortly after this, Audrey was contacted by a movie company to make Lycra suits for a film.

Since then, she has outfitted actors from Demi Moore to John Goodman in Lycra, for movies like GI Jane, Planet of the Apes and US Marshalls, among others.
